Menu Planning #226
Meal planning is essential to eating healthy, keeping the grocery bill down, and maintaining your sanity throughout a workweek. In addition to meal planning, I try to prepare meals as much as possible over the weekend. This helps to lower my stress during the week. However, if we have a busy weekend, I try to plan simple or crockpot meals.
Our grocery bill has been reaching or surpassing $200 a week for a while and this month, I am going to try to bring that price tag down. In addition to spending so much money on groceries, we have also been eating out more often. It is time to change our ways. Our goal is $150 per week and only eating out 1 time in the month of November.
Week 1 = $169.10- 10.35 (IBOTTA) = $158.75
Stock Up Items included:
5 bags of Nestle chocolate chips: $1.99 x 5 = $9.95 - $2.00 (coupons) = $7.95.
4 Boxes of Pasta: $0.79 x 4 = $3.16 - $1.40 (coupon) = $1.76
Eating Out Solution:
Frozen pizzas were on sale this week for $3.99. I picked up 2 frozen pizzas for Friday evenings, so that we will not be tempted to eat out on a Friday.
In addition, I picked up 2.5 pounds of chicken wings for $ 5.99, so we do not need to give up our chicken wing/pizza night.
