Pizza ($2.77 per Pie)

A large pizza can cost from $10.00 (on specific nights usually Tuesday) up to $20.00 per
pie.  Wow! That may be cheap for a dinner out, but in general that is very expensive for just
1 meal.

Let’s look at ways to bring that price down.  First, if you don’t cook, then purchase a frozen
pizza (regular price: $2.79 - $6.00).  This alone will save you between $4.00 and $17.21.
However, pizza is easy to make, will be much larger and tastes so much better than frozen
pizza, but takes a little bit of time and knowledge to do.

I got my base recipe from the Betty Crocker Cookbook and just adjusted it to our tastes.

Ingredients:
3 cups flour (2 - 2½ cup White flour & ½ cup Wheat flour)
2 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon yeast
1 cup warm  water
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
¼  cup Pizza sauce
2 cups mozzarella cheese

Toppings of choice
Pepperoni
Mushrooms
Onions
Peppers
Olives

Directions:

** About 2 hour before you want to have your pizza, you need to start the dough.

First you mix the warm water with the sugar until dissolved.  Then you sprinkle the yeast on
top and allow it to sit for approximately 5 minutes.

Sift flour and salt into the mixing bowl.

Add the wet ingredients, 2 tablespoons oil and yeast mixture.

Mix with a bread hook until it pulls away from the sides.

Allow the dough to rise for 1 hour.

Oil the pan with 1 tablespoon of oil.  Then roll out the dough into the pan. Top with pizza
sauce and cheese.  You can add toppings if you want.

Bake at 450 for 15 minutes.

Enjoy.
