With inflation on the rise and our salaries not being able to keep up, it seems like we have taken a pay cut and must be more careful with our money.   The Frugal Five is a series where we celebrate our daily or weekly activities that help us live a frugal life.    


Last week was a little hard to get anything accomplished, so I needed to give myself grace.   Although I did try to be as frugal as possible, I also needed to keep my life together.    


1-  Sold my son’s old Swim Parka


My son needed a new Swim Parka because his old one was 6 years old and too small for him.  We were able to pick up his new Swim Parka for $70.00.   This is part of his Christmas presents.   However, his old swim parka was still in great shape.   Therefore, I offered it up to his swim club and a member purchased it for $35.00.     


2- Cashed in Rewards for Christmas Presents

I had several registered rewards and extra care bucks that needed to be used.   Everyone at my school was giving gifts to others, so I picked up a huge box of deluxe chocolates to add to my Christmas Cards as a small gift. In addition, I picked up a few mini Panatona’s (traditional and chocolate) for Christmas dessert.        


3- Cheap Fidgets for Classroom

Fidgets cost between $3.50 and $7.00 each on Amazon.   I was able to find several fidgets for only $1.00 each at our local Dollar Store, so I picked up all of the fidgets they had.   In addition, I kept the receipt to take off of my taxes.        


4- Used Coupon Code for Free Photos

Walgreens provided us with a coupon code for 5 free 5X6 photos.     I took advantage of this deal and picked up 5 pictures of my son to give out as gifts.          


5- Used an expiring Movie Code 

    

Our family had a digital download code on our Amazon Prime account, so we took advantage of the code before it expired to watch Batman.   It was a nice treat for us to watch a current movie from the comfort of our home.

  The Frugal Five: #33 With inflation on the rise and our salaries not being able to keep up, it seems like we have taken a pay cut and must be more careful with our money.   The Frugal Five is a series where we celebrate our daily or weekly activities that help us live a frugal life.     Last week was a little hard to get anything accomplished, so I needed to give myself grace.   Although I did try to be as frugal as possible, I also needed to keep my life together.     1- Took advantage of Free-bees this week  Wow!  I was able to pick up a 3 lb Butterball boneless breast meat turkey, Cranberry Sauce, Brown Gravy, Jiffy Corn Mix and Bob Evans Breakfast Sausage for FREE.    In addition, I was able to pick up free tissues from Meijers.        All in all, a pretty good week for freebies.  2- Homemade Deli Lunchmeat I was able to pick up a Large Thanksgiving Turkey for $0.45 lb. and I earned a free 3 lb Butterball boneless turkey breast from IBOTTA.  Last week we spent over $14.00 on deli

The Humble Egg

  The Humble Egg Historically eggs are the cheapest type of protein.  However, due to bird flu, the price of eggs can get rather expensive and that is not when we eat a lot of them.     This has happened in the last year in my area, but now eggs have returned to a reasonable price and we can start consuming them on a regular basis again.    ** All egg recipes are linked to the pictures.  Replacing meat with eggs or stretching a meal with eggs, will decrease the overall cost of your meal.  Breakfast Sandwich Our family is always pressed to leave the house in the morning, so having a portable breakfast sandwich available to us is essential to getting a good start to the morning.   That is along with our to-go cup of coffee.   Omelet Making an egg omelet with whatever cheese and vegetables are available for fillings makes a great breakfast or lunch.   We typically will make a three-egg omelet with vegetables (mushrooms, peppers, onions) and cheese (feta, cheddar, American).    My husband
