Living Large In The Cheap Seats- April 9

Living Large In the Cheap Seats is starting to look a little different given the current state of
crisis the world is experiencing.   The fact that we are being asked to limit our exposure to
groups of people larger than 10 people really impacts our ability to get out and enjoy various
local experiences.   Therefore going out in public is of a low priority in our household for the
time being. However, we are hoping to change that come late spring/early summer.
Therefore, I am going to focus on incorporating a little Hagge into my life with a few Small
Group (aka family based) activities, Virtual Activities and things you can do now in order to
secure more fun for the warmer months.   Well- hopefully.

Add a Little Hygge into your life:
So, what is Hygge?  Hygge is defined as “a quality of coziness and comfortable
cheerfulness that causes a feeling of contentment or well-being.”   I believe that Hygge is
living a simpler lifestyle that is filled with contentment and rich relationships, but how do we
get started?

As the weather is getting warmer in my area, this week we are celebrating transforming your
backyard into a Hygge paradise.    Stay home and enjoy!

Beautiful LIghting
Although now we have permanent lighting on our patio, we used to hang white Christmas
tree lights around our patio.    However, now there are all kinds of solar lights and beautiful
lanterns to add a warm glow.

Birds
We opened up our patio this weekend and brought out our bird bath and hung up our bird
feeders.   Since we have bleeding heart bushes, we already had a ton of birds visiting our
backyard.

Plant a Garden
We enjoy growing all kinds of plants.  We have strawberries, a salsa garden and so much more.
We combine edibles with flowers. Our yard provides us with delicious food and beauty all
spring and summer long.

Cosy Fire
Select a place to have a fire pit that you can light and enjoy the warmth and light of a fire on a
cool spring night. You can even make dinner over the open fire.     Although it would be better
with friends and family, but with the social distancing order in place, keep the group super
small.

Comfy Chairs
Outfit your patio with comfortable chairs and/or pillows to soften your regular chairs.    Enjoy
the stars at night while sipping some wine.

Since March has 4 weeks, our monthly budget is $757.20.   We elevate our dining experiences by including fresh fruits, vegetables, and higher-quality meats.  Since we have health concerns and are active individuals, we limit our processed food choices.    Grocery Shopping Tip:     Utilize your grocery store’s loyalty program. This month, my 2 primary grocery stores have provided me with store coupons for bread, Silk milk, jelly candy, frozen vegetables, and Bali coconut water.  Here is what we did this week to make our week easier: ...
