Frugal Friday- November 16th

Making small changes that have big results.

On Friday’s I share 5 frugal ideas to help you maintain The Sweet Life on a Budget.
These things will have money saving ideas and/or a way to enhance your lifestyle for very little money.

  1. Potluck Church Dinner- Our church is having an event this Friday which is a potluck (The Gospel According to Harry Potter).  We will be taking a platter of deviled eggs which is always a hit and getting to enjoy a lovely meal and fun activities with our church family and friends.

  1. Stocking Up on Holiday Turkey- Our local grocery stores have been competing for the lowest price on Turkeys.  One store had them as low as $.37 per pound last weekend. Now if you only want the Turkey Breast then the lowest price was $.99 per pound.  Needless to say I stocked up on the maximum number allowed- 5 birds. I am planning on cooking 2 right away and processing them into lunchmeat.  Since low process turkey deli meat goes for $9.99 per pound, we will save about $9.00 per pound.
  1. Stock Bag- Each time I use vegetable that go into making soup stock, I place the ends and peelings into a bag and place it into the freezer.  Each time I make stock, I use the contents of the bag to the stock to enrich the flavor. It is easy and helps to produce a zero waste kitchen.  Win-Win…..
  1. Leveraging the free item opportunities-  Right now our local CVS, Meijers and Kroger are offering several free item promotions.   This week I was able to get a free Crest mouthwash at CVS, Carrots from Meijers, and Wheat Thins, Yogurt,Idaho Potato Pouch, Welch's Fruit Snacks and BIC disposable razors from Kroger.  Keep your eye out for more deals. Start planning now for Black Friday Deals.
  1. Rebate Apps-  I use several Rebate Apps (IBOTTA, Savingstar, and Checkout 51) for when I buy groceries and/or drug store items.  The holidays are here and we could use some more cash in our account to cover the extra expense. I have earned a combination of $ 186.00 so far this year.  I am going to cash out as much as I can to cover the extras of the holiday.
