The Frugal Five: #45
With inflation on the rise and our salaries not being able to keep up, it seems like we have taken a pay cut and must be more careful with our money. The Frugal Five is a series where we celebrate our family's daily or weekly activities that help us live a frugal life.
This week is a variety of different things that I either choose to do or just decided to seize the opportunities that came my way. I use to feel a little guilty about the opportunities that would come to me, but now I embrace them and have a spirit of gratitude regarding all of the positive things that come my way.
1- Social Committee Day
This week our social committee provided a bunch of snacks for us at lunch. Although it wasn’t all healthy food, it was delicious and we are grateful for them providing it.
2- Accepting Opportunity this Week
This week I took advantage of a Freebee that Kroger provided to us via a store coupon→ 1 free Silk Almond Milk (59 oz). In addition, when I picked up a few things at Meijer’s last week, they provided me with a store coupon for a can of Bush Baked Beans. This can will come in handy when grilling season comes. Yum Yum. Finally, my samples came in the mail this week. About a month ago, I submitted to get a Casade sample from P&G and it came this week. Not at 21 items yet, but getting closer. Every little bit helps. So grateful.
3- Grocery Mark Down Stir Fry Kits
We picked up 2 stir fry kits for just $2.10 each. By picking up these kits, and adding a little shrimp from the freezer, we avoided a huge takeout bill that evening. It was yummy, and healthy and for under $6.00 the whole family had a great dinner.
4- Library Love
Spring break is this week and we decided to stay at home, get a few things taken care of at the house and watch a few movies. We picked up several movies from our local library for free. As a bonus, I use the library to meet with my tutoring student at a free space to tutor. We can get a private space, and use their electricity and books.
5- Enjoyed a Nice Fire on a Cold Day
This past weekend was a little chilly, so we used some of the wood we picked up earlier in the year to make a warm fire. It was beautiful, relaxing, and kept us warm. What a great experience.

Next week, I am going to be on spring break, so I will be cleaning out my basement and focusing on my spring garden. So come back next Friday for my ideas.
