Frugal 5: #22

 The Frugal Five: #22

With inflation on the rise and our salaries not being able to keep up, it seems like we have taken a pay cut and must be more careful with our money.   The Frugal Five is a series where we celebrate our daily or weekly activities that help us live a frugal life.

1- Drying Mint for Winter Tea

We enjoy tea all winter long.  So during the summer and fall, I harvest various herbs, dry them and mix them into tea.    This week I cut back my mint and started drying it.     In addition, I have dried chamomile, basil, rosemary, ginger, hibiscus, and sage.

2- Weekly Free-Bees

This week our free-bees were incredible!   Kroger is having a buy 3 or more and get $2.00 off Each.  I was able to pick up 12 Spimpe Truth Mushrooms stems and pieces, 2 Schick razors, Fruit-tella candy, Pepsi Nitro, and a Perfect bar.  This week Pinch Me samples came in from last month- Stress Calm Meltaway Tablets (20ct), Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Wash (2 fl oz), and Morning Recovery (100ml).

3- Green Sphere Found Cheaper

While we were on vacation, we stopped by Pottery Time World on a whim.   While looking through the rows and rows of home decor items, my husband spied 2 green spheres affixed to a pot for $10 each.   We checked out the size of the sphere, which is around 8 inches in diameter.    This happened to be the size I had looking for, so I picked them up.   Since we have recently purchased 2 spheres for $15 per sphere, we will be returning them.

4- This Weeks Garden Goodness

Our garden produce is ready to start harvesting.    We picked a small bowl of cherry tomatoes, but there are several more getting reading to harvest.    Since these tomatoes are from last year's Big Bertha plant, I am going to save some of the seeds for next year.     In addition, we have harvested several long peppers.   I know that this year’s harvest will not be as strong because we moved during the planting season and didn’t have a lot of seedlings to plant.    Just remember– every little bit helps, so don’t get discouraged.

5-Packing Everyone’s Lunches

Eating out every day during the week for lunch really adds up, especially when there are 3 of us.   School is starting to gear up, so I am back to work.   We pack simple, yet delicious meals the night before, so there is no excuse for eating out.

Since March has 4 weeks, our monthly budget is $757.20.   We elevate our dining experiences by including fresh fruits, vegetables, and higher-quality meats.  Since we have health concerns and are active individuals, we limit our processed food choices.    Grocery Shopping Tip:     Utilize your grocery store’s loyalty program. This month, my 2 primary grocery stores have provided me with store coupons for bread, Silk milk, jelly candy, frozen vegetables, and Bali coconut water.  Here is what we did this week to make our week easier: ...
