The Frugal Five
With inflation on the rise and our salaries not being able to keep up, it seems like we have taken a pay cut and must be more careful with our money. The Frugal Five is a series where we celebrate our daily or weekly activities that help us to live a frugal life.
1- Fighting against High Gas Prices
I put more effort into finding the best price for gas. Through tracking prices for several days taking location into account, I discovered that prices are consistently cheaper in specific locations that I to travel frequently. Therefore, I waited to refill my gas tank until I went to work on Monday, so I could take advantage of lower prices. The Results: 10 gallons of gas at $3.41! The price in my local area is $3.97/gallon. This saved me $5.60 this week. Although it is not a lot of money, it is something.
2- Take advantage of Grocery Store Coupons & Rebates
Meijer Grocery Store provided me with several money coupons. I have been provided with an $8.00 grocery coupon. In addition, in the mail, received two $10.00 off of $50.00 coupons for the month of May. IBOTTA has also made 2 free products available after rebate to my account.
3- Hygge:
This week has really sapped my energy and depleted my positive attitude, so I needed a little pick me up. My husband noticed my mood and provided me with a surprise date. We spent some quality time together and picked up a coffee from Starbucks. In addition, he received a coupon for a free environmental cup from Starbucks which is dishwasher save. The cost was under $10.00 and the positive results were well worth it this week.
4- Kitchen Love-
Unfortunately, I was very short on time this week, so my kitchen time was limited. Although our meals were simple and quick in nature, we didn’t eat out! I call this a kitchen win.
5- Redeemed Gift Cards from IBOTTA and My Points
Our family needed to replace a set of lights in our bathroom, so I went to my rebate apps to see how much I could pull to cover the cost. I was surprised that I had $197.14 which accumulated since I pulled money out at the end of February. WOW! By investing about 10 minutes each day on My Points and submitting my grocery receipt each week to IBOTTA for my rebates, my reward covered our families light fixture expense.
If you are interested in either of these apps, I am leaving the information below:
My Points: https://www.mypoints.com?rb=25406148
If you use my link, then I will earn points and so will you! After your first $20.00, you will earn a bonus of 750 points. (almost a $5.00 gift card/790 points)
The cool things about My Points is that through daily pole, surveys and computer searches, you can earn money without spending any money at all.
IBOTTA: yasucyr
If you use my code then I will receive $10.00 and you will receive $10.00 after you submit your first rebate.
I only use IBOTTA rebates for things that I would already have on my grocery list or to try new items that are free after the rebate.
