Frugal Friday

Making small changes that have big results.

Living the Good Life On A Budget can happen with small changes repeated weekly.
Here are some ideas as to how you can make some small changes that will have HUGE

results over the course of a year.
On Friday’s I share 5 frugal ideas to help you maintain The Sweet Life on a Budget.
These things will have money saving ideas and/or a way to enhance your lifestyle for
very little money.

Making Dinner At Home- Since our stay at home order has been extended until May 29th,
this one is easy.    We plan simple, yet delicious meals for every night.   Then depending on
who has more energy or ability to make dinner, they/I cook.   Sometimes we even have the
chance to cook together, which is always fun.

Keeping to your Grocery Budget- This one is a tough one!    I don’t know if you have
noticed grocery prices increasing slowly but surely, but I have.  That coupled with meat
processing plants shutting down, last year’s crop loss and the news reports of food being
thrown away, makes me very nervous.   However, I can’t allow myself to continuously
overspent

Waste Not, Want Not-  We have already put our compost from last year into our garden
and turned it over.    Now it is time to start up another batch.   I have kept the scraps of
vegetables that would not be used to make stock, egg shells, coffee grounds and of course
all forms of brown content- AKA junk mail.     I am shredding it to lay above the greens.

Embrace the Good Life

Careful Deal Finding- Over the past month, I have been careful with not going to many
stores during this time of staying at home and I wouldn’t encourage anyone to be out and
about unnecessarily because of the health impact.   However, if I am going to the store for a
particular reason, then I try to pick up my deals.     The deals are very small in number, but I
am grateful for any deal during this time.

Since March has 4 weeks, our monthly budget is $757.20.   We elevate our dining experiences by including fresh fruits, vegetables, and higher-quality meats.  Since we have health concerns and are active individuals, we limit our processed food choices.    Grocery Shopping Tip:     Utilize your grocery store’s loyalty program. This month, my 2 primary grocery stores have provided me with store coupons for bread, Silk milk, jelly candy, frozen vegetables, and Bali coconut water.  Here is what we did this week to make our week easier: ...
