With all of the social distancing recommendations and stay at home orders put into place
around our country, I do not feel compelled to support running around to a variety of
different stores in order to save money. Therefore, I have dusted off one of my original
post topics that investigates and celebrates the act of living frugally. This post series may
or may not include couponing deals, but it always will promote living simply, frugally and
saving money. I will share 5 things that I did that week in order to achieve this goal.
Let's Get Started!
We had over purchased bananas last week and they were extremely ripe. In the spirit of
not wasting any of our food/resources, I made banana bread for breakfast. In this form, it
only lasted a few days.
We made dinner every night or ate leftovers in order not to waste any food.
Regrow food scraps. It is amazing that you can get a smaller but second growing from food scraps that you would usually just throw away.
I took the time this week to oil my furniture, cutting board and salad serving spoons. This will help to prevent the wood from cracking and last much longer.
This week our toilet started to leak. We were fortunate to be able to catch it immediately. If we called a plumber, the bill would be at least $100. However, we turned off the water, and my husband was able to find the leak and fix it. We checked it over the following 2 days and the leak was fixed.
