Sale Cycle: February

February Sale Cycles

There are cycles in the weather, economy, politics and general fabrics of life,
but the cycle that I am focused recently is the sale cycles that seem to be
predictable and constant.  Therefore, caution is best served here because
overspending can easily occur in the name of saving money. Since knowledge
is power, here are a few tricks and skills to help you make an informed
decision on your cycles.  This month we will focus on the February Sales
Cycles and give a few general tricks in order to make the most of your budget.

February tends to focus on the Super Bowl, Valentines Day, National Hot
Breakfast Month, Chinese New Year and after holiday sales.

Things I look for in February:
Breakfast Foods
Boxed and Canned Asian Products
Candy
Canned Fruits and Vegetables
Canned Meat and Seafood
Canned Pie Fillings
Canned Soup
Chocolate
Oatmeal
Pancake Mix
Soy Sauce
Syrup
Waffles
Aspirin
Supplements
Low cholesterol oils and spreads

Boats and Motorcycles
Memberships (Zoo, Aquarium, etc.)
Furniture- Mattresses, recliners, some large appliances, sofas, air conditioners, humidifiers.

In addition to shopping the sales, it is also good to know what fruits and
vegetables are in season because they taste the best and are sold at their
lowest price of the year.

Seasonal Vegetables

Broccoli
Cauliflower
Grapefruit
Kiwi
Lemons
Oranges
Papayas
Pears
Seasonal Fruit

Artichokes
Avocado
Carrots
Cauliflower
Celery
Chard
Collards

Turnips

After Valentine's Day, look for steep discounts on flowers, greeting cards, gift
wrap, heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, holiday-packaged candy, perfumes,
and personal care gift box sets.

Year Round Tips and Tricks

Tip 2- Meal Planning is worth money in the bank.  The simple step of looking at
your calendar and planning your meals based on your schedule and how much
time you have to put dinner on the table will save you a lot of money on take
out.  I have a 4-5 quick meals that I can use on a regular basis. Some
examples include: Sandwiches, Kielbasa Hash, or Pasta. In addition to my
quick meals, I have crock pot meals that I can put on in the morning, when I
have more time, and just enjoy whenever we are ready to eat.  Some of those
meals include: Taco Meat, BBQ Chicken, or Pork Chops.

Since March has 4 weeks, our monthly budget is $757.20.   We elevate our dining experiences by including fresh fruits, vegetables, and higher-quality meats.  Since we have health concerns and are active individuals, we limit our processed food choices.    Grocery Shopping Tip:     Utilize your grocery store’s loyalty program. This month, my 2 primary grocery stores have provided me with store coupons for bread, Silk milk, jelly candy, frozen vegetables, and Bali coconut water.  Here is what we did this week to make our week easier: ...
