2020 Goal- Check In



This past New Years I decided to do something a little different because I was
tired of making resolutions and then forgetting about them by the end of the
month.   This year I gave myself small goals for each month which should
make positive changes overall in my life. 


If you set clear goals, write them down and break each goal down into short
term goals.  Each month I will focus on a specific short term goal and track my
progress. In addition, I practice positive affirmations to improve my probability
of being successful with my goals and gain support from friends/family.   
Finally, I reward myself for achieving each short and/or long term goal.  


Let’s see how I did: 


For January, I committed to stretching each morning.   Overall I did a great job,
but I have to admit that several days I didn’t stretch this month.    My body
would tell me that I was missing this important part of my routine and I would
restart again.   Overall I am pretty pleased with my progress. Now on to next
month.  
For February, I committed to eating 6 portions of fruits and  vegetables daily. I
plan on adding fruit to my breakfast meal and 1 potion for a snack.   In
addition, I am planning on ensuring that I maintain my 2 portions of fruit and
vegetables for both lunch and dinner.

2025 Updated Breakfast Under $1.00

On the USDA Website, their thrifty grocery budgets range from  $25.70 to $72.80 per week ($3.67 - $10.40 per day) per person.   The two factors that determine the amount allocated are age and sex.  With such a small amount of money allocated daily for food and my attempt to eat healthily, I need to plan each week carefully.     With the Bird Flu hitting America hard recently, the egg is no longer a humble star but is turning into a luxury.     A dozen eggs cost $5.49 or $0.46 each.  At this price, I am looking at other options for breakfast.   Breakfast is a great place to add value to your meal planning.    It can be the cheapest or most expensive meal.  The choice is up to you.    NOTE: Prices are for the Northeast area for March 1,  2025 Let’s look at breakfasts that come in at or under $1.00.     Beagle and Cream Cheese ($0.69 per serving) Kroger Prices Bagels (6ct)- $2...
