2020 Goals

Happy New Years!   Each year the world takes the time to evaluate their lives
and set goals for the new year.   This normally takes the form of New Year’s
Resolutions. Unfortunately, these goals tend to fall by the wayside within a few
months.  So, how would we go about changing this. Hmmmm.

If you set clear goals, write them down and break each goal down into short
term goals.  Each month I will focus on a specific short term goal and track my
progress. In addition, I practice positive affirmations to improve my probability
of being successful with my goals and gain support from friends/family.
Finally, I reward myself for achieving each short and/or long term goal.

This year instead of focusing on my weight, I am going to put my time and
energy into making healthier choices and lifestyle changes.   I figure that if
each month I am successful in adding a healthy habit into my life, by the end of
2020 I will have made significant improvements in my life.

Here is what I came up with:

January- I will stretch each morning.

February- I will eat 6 portions of fruits and  vegetables daily.

March- I will add 1 vegetarian meal to the meal plan each week.

April- I will walk for 30 minutes 1 X per week.

May- I will meditate before I go to bed each night.

June- I will go on 1 physical activity each week.  (e.g. hike, bike ride, etc.)

July- I will drink 8 cups of water each day.

August- I will add 1 additional vegetarian meal to the meal plan each week.

September- I will add a new recipe to the menu plan each week.

October-  I will walk for 30 minutes 2 X per week.

November- I will schedule 2 activities with my friends this month.

December - I will increase connecting with family and friends.

What is it that you want to work on this year?    Let’s support each other on this journey.

Since March has 4 weeks, our monthly budget is $757.20.   We elevate our dining experiences by including fresh fruits, vegetables, and higher-quality meats.  Since we have health concerns and are active individuals, we limit our processed food choices.    Grocery Shopping Tip:     Utilize your grocery store’s loyalty program. This month, my 2 primary grocery stores have provided me with store coupons for bread, Silk milk, jelly candy, frozen vegetables, and Bali coconut water.  Here is what we did this week to make our week easier: ...
