Free or Cheap Movies- What?

Summer Fun- Dirt Cheap or Free
Free Movies- What?

Is it possible to go to the movies for free?   Well, you won’t be able to see the
latest movies, but last year's favorites should be available for your viewing.
Let’s check out how you see free movies too.

Library  (Free)
This is my favorite place to pick up movies.  We are able to select movies, put
movies on hold and all kinds of TV shows.   It is easy to pick up several
movies, make some “fast” food and popcorn, sit back and enjoy the
double/triple feature.  The best part is the free movies are available year round
and we are in complete control over what movies come home for viewing.

Movies in the Park (Free)
Our township hosts movies 3 times a summer.  They even provide free
popcorn. So, pack up the blankets, lawn chairs, bug spray and any snacks
you want, and head over to the local park at dusk.  This year we are able to
see: Leap (June), Wonder (July) and Lego Movie 2 (August). For more
live in my area, just pull up your local and/or neighboring township and check
to see which movies they sponsor.

Movies by Moonlight @ Easton (Free)
Easton Town Center

Every Tuesday at dust, Easton Town Center hosts a different movie each week
for the months of June, July and August.  These are family based movies
(older favorites and new animated releases). You will need to bring your own
blanket and snacks.  Click here for the list of movies:

The Gateway Picture Show (Free)
Free movies (PG 13) are shown on the second Tuesday of June, July and
August outside in the back of the Gateway Plaza (by the parking garage and
Pearl Alley).  Popcorn is provided by GFC. However, you can purchase food,
beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) from the local restaurants and bring it
to the movie area.  It is recommended that you bring a blanket and/or chair as
the plaza is bricked. Here is the movie list for this summer:

  • Tuesday, June 11: But I’m a Cheerleader
  • Tuesday, July 9: When Harry Met Sally
  • Tuesday, August 13: American Pie
  • Tuesday, September 10: Sixteen Candles

Summer Movie Clubhouse (Dirt Cheap)

Select Cinemark Movie Houses offer the Summer Movie Clubhouse. This is
when the movie theater will offer select movies on Monday and Wednesday
each week for $1.00 per person. They also offer a discount for all 10 movies
for only $5.00 or $0.50 per movie. You can check out what movies are
showing and which movie theaters are available for this promotion.

Roku/Amazon Prime/Youtube (Dirt Cheap)

A few years ago, we decided to cut our cable to looked for reasonably priced
alternatives.  We were able to purchase a significantly discounted Roku and
antenna during that year’s black Friday sales event.  Since we have already
paid for the Roku and have Amazon Prime, we are able to watch whatever
movies/documentaries are available through each of these things free of
charge. This is great for when it rains or during the colder months.

Before I started to look for dirt cheap or free activities, I was happy to shell out cold hard cash for entertainment.  Now however, I make finding dirt cheap or free activities a game and usually find a lot of great things to do in our area. Give it a try and let me know what great treasures you find in your area.
