Everyday Luxury On A Budget- 5 Minute Clean

I never thought that just 5 minutes in the morning and at night could bring such joy into my
life.  It’s true! I have the FlyLady ( http://www.flylady.net/ ) to thank for this little discovery.
Although I do not follow her program fully, I do take bits and pieces from it to make my life a
little less chaotic and a lot more pleasurable.

Just the act of ensuring that you have a shined sink each night is wonderful. This task takes
less than 5 minutes and every night, and I am greeted with a clean shiny sink every
morning.  It really sets my day up for a wonderful start, especially if I have remembered to
set the coffee pot to have my coffee brewed for me before I get downstairs. Ahhh- Luxury!

Another simple and short task that really sets up the day and helps to transform your home
into something a little more- well luxurious is to clean for just 5 minutes in the morning.  I
can wipe down my bathroom, dust my bedroom, or pick up the kitchen in this time. This
little act will help to keep the dirt and clutter out of your home and create a calmer living
space.

Before

After

However, the biggest benefit to this little ritual is that when you commit just this little bit of
time, your house starts to transform into a sanctuary and you will be motivated to do more
simple things, a little more often, to ensure that you keep this feeling and sense of tranquility
when you enter.

The sense of tranquility, sanctuary, calmness, love, beauty and home is the luxurious feeling
all 5 star hotels strive to provide for their clients.  It’s amazing that you can produce these
same feelings and beauty in your home with a little bit of time and efforts. The best part is
that there is all of this can be accomplished without the high price of a hotel stay.

This month, my 2 primary grocery stores have provided me with store coupons for bread, Silk milk, jelly candy, frozen vegetables, and Bali coconut water.  Here is what we did this week to make our week easier: ...
