WHAT I SPENT AND WHAT WE ATE
We have a family of 3 and special dietary needs. Our family eats a relatively clean diet with very
limited process/convenience food. In addition, my husband has just switched positions and will now
be eating at home or packing his lunches MUCH more often. Furthermore, my son is a competitive
swimmer who consumes a large quantity of calories per day just to maintain his training regimen and
he has 2 large meets this month. The requires not only calories on a regular basis but specialized
snacks for each day of the meets. Our current weekly grocery budget is $100.00, but given the
changes in our family’s life, this may need to increase. Now I know that others spend far less for
groceries and I applaud you, but this is what works for us.
We were out of a lot of staples and there this was the final week of a great Mega Deal at Krogers, so
we spent a little bit more than we originally budgeted. The way I handle this is that next week, I will
try to trim the budget to bring everything into balance by the end of the month. Come back next
week and see how we did.
