Frugal Friday- November 9

Making small changes that have big results.

On Friday’s I share 5 frugal ideas to help you maintain The Sweet Life on a Budget.
These things will have money saving ideas and/or a way to enhance your lifestyle for very little money.

1. Make your own Yogurt-

Chobani yogurt was our favorite yogurt to buy, but the hit to our weekly grocery budget was huge.  We were spending up to $10.98 for 2 tubes of yogurt (32 oz) per week. However, when I learned how to make my own yogurt our cost of yogurt went down to $1.66 for 64 oz.  Wow that’s a savings of $9.32.

If you want to learn how to make yogurt, check out my How to Make Yogurt Post.

2. Used Strategic Shopping Techniques-
I checked my sale prices before I planned my menu and shopping list.  Then I checked my pantry to see which areas needed replenishment, made my list and checking adding my prices to ensure that I stayed within my budget.  Even with adding my stock up items I was under budget. This is important because with Thanksgiving around the corner there will be great sales coming up.

3. Packing Snacks for Swim Meet-
When going to any sports event the snacks or a meal can run up a large bill.  For example, a bottle of water can be purchased for $1.00 per bottle. However, I was able to purchase that same water bottles for $1.99 for a case of 24 or $.08 per bottle.  That’s a savings of $.92 each.

4, Free-Bees-
I took advantage of the free bees that came my way.  I was able to get an item free from Meijers buy 10 get the 11th free, Walgreens Colgate deal and my Friskies Lil’soups sample came in the mail. If you want to see my October Free-Bees, click the link. October Free-Bees

 5.Christmas Shopping the Sales-
I was shopping at Krogers and discovered that their large (18 oz)  pumpkin candles were on sale for $1.00 each. The candles smell nice and will make a great addition to my gift closet for a small price, so I picked up 3.

Since March has 4 weeks, our monthly budget is $757.20.   We elevate our dining experiences by including fresh fruits, vegetables, and higher-quality meats.  Since we have health concerns and are active individuals, we limit our processed food choices.    Grocery Shopping Tip:     Utilize your grocery store’s loyalty program. This month, my 2 primary grocery stores have provided me with store coupons for bread, Silk milk, jelly candy, frozen vegetables, and Bali coconut water.  Here is what we did this week to make our week easier: ...
