I was first introduced to Living Large In the Cheap Seats by a college friend, Chris J., who introduced me to lawn tickets for popular bands.   We were able to see great concerts at a significantly discounted rate.   Later when reading Brokenomics by Dina Gachman, I revised this concept and decided to share it with you.  I have been doing this for years and have been able to enjoy wonderful experiences for FREE!


Concert in the Park Series


The Keehner Park concerts are 7-9 p.m. on select Saturdays between Memorial Day and Labor Day at the Keehner Park Amphitheater.  The free concerts welcome all guests to pack a picnic for the evening.  Sorry, but alcohol is NOT permitted.


**Opening night at the Keehner Park Concert Series includes a free ice cream social at intermission as part of the larger West Chester Founders’ Day Walk on June 1st from 2-6:00. 


Colerain Park has their summer concerts posted starting in June at 7:00 pm.

Movies In the Park Series


Deerfield Park has their Movies in the Park Series starting in June.

    • 6:30- Game and Snacks

    • Movie starts at dusk (about 7:30 PM)

*** Locally-owned Mariemont and Esquire Theatres offer Free Summer Movies for Kids on Monday and Wednesday mornings from June 3 to July 31. All movies are PG.   The Box Office opens at 9:45 and the movie will start at 10:00.   All tickets are free and are provided the day of the show on a first come first served basis.  There will be no movie the week of July 4th.

Summer Cinema will move to the great lawn at Zieglar Park (formerly at Washington Park). Movies will be on Wednesday evenings (See below). Pack up the lawn chairs and a picnic basket and enjoy this beautiful downtown park! All movies start at 9 PM.

The Summit Cinema (at Summit Park) will be showing movies on a giant inflatable screen, visible from any spot on the Great Lawn. Their movies include:

Bring your own lawn chair and blankets.   Free Popcorn provided by Toyota is available  while supplies last. 

4th of July Events

Taps, Tastes and Tunes - July 4-6, 2024

Taps, Tastes, and Tunes at the VOA Museum is the best place to enjoy Fourth of July Fireworks presented by West Chester Township. Celebrate the Independence Day holiday weekend with bands, food, beer, and fun! There is no cost for admission at this three-day outdoor festival. Taps, Tastes, and Tunes is a ColdIron Productions, LLC event offered in cooperation with MetroParks of Butler County and will benefit the National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting.

Colerain Park

The park is hosting a 4th of July Spectacular at 7:00 PM with Fireworks at 10PM.


Red, Rhythm and Boom

Date: July 3rd 

The city of Mason is hosting Spin Doctors (8:00 PM) with the opening act of Sister Hazel (6:00 PM).   However, there will be carnival activities starting at 4:00 for the kids with food trucks and adult beverage trucks available.  All of this is followed up with Fireworks at 10:00 PM.   



Summer Planning


Free Bowling For Kids (ages 2-17)  This Summer

Register your child(ren) for a summer of free bowling.   Your children will receive 2 free games per day for the entire summer.   (Note- You will need to rent shoes or bring your own.  We purchase used shoes and resell them each summer to pay for our new shoes.)

National Museum of the Air Force

Free Admission and Parking daily from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM (Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Years Day) 


Since 1923 the museum has grown from a small engineering study collection to the world's largest military aviation museum and is a world-renowned center for air and space power technology and culture preservation. The museum is home to countless one-of-a-kind objects. Our once small engine collection now includes more than 350 aerospace vehicles and missiles, and thousands of artifacts, and spans 20 indoor acres with additional outdoor Air and Memorial Parks that continue to grow every year.


Cincinnati Art Museum 

General Admission and Parking in the Museum Lots are FREE. 


One of the oldest arts institutions in the United States, the heart of the Cincinnati Art Museum is its rich collection of more than 67,000 works of art, celebrating 6,000 years of human creativity.


Special Exhibit prices vary but some of the special exhibits are not charging additional fees and Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm seem to be consistently FREE.
