Baby It's Cold Outside- Hygge in the Winter

 Hygge in the Winter

Winter has taken the country by storm with vengeance.   Several areas are suffering exstremely cold temperatures, snow and ice, and the interruption of power.   This requires people to prepare for the worst and hope for the best, but we can do this with style and grace.

In preparation we make sure that we have flashlights, warm blankets, emergency food storage, topped off gas tanks, and charged phones, ipads and laptops.   Our home has a gas stove and fireplace, so we are fortunate because if the electricity goes out, we will still be able to cook and have a heating source.   However, when we were not so fortunate to have these backups, we made sure that we invested in subzero sleeping bags.

By looking for Hygge activities to embrace during these times, we can endure this situation with style and grace.    I always enjoy warm beverages on these cold, snowy days.   In addition, one of my traditions is when there is a 2-hour delay or snow day, I make a sweet treat.   For supper, we make a huge pot of soup that's aroma permeates through the house.   This along with a roaring fire and a good book makes my day tranquil and luxurious.

What do you do when it is cold outside?

Since March has 4 weeks, our monthly budget is $757.20.   We elevate our dining experiences by including fresh fruits, vegetables, and higher-quality meats.  Since we have health concerns and are active individuals, we limit our processed food choices.    Grocery Shopping Tip:     Utilize your grocery store’s loyalty program. This month, my 2 primary grocery stores have provided me with store coupons for bread, Silk milk, jelly candy, frozen vegetables, and Bali coconut water.  Here is what we did this week to make our week easier: ...
