Everyday Luxury On A Budget- Water Transformed

At first you don’t think of water as a luxury, but then it hits you.-- Not everyone has clean
water to drink.  WOW- wrap your head around that for a minute. Well, let’s transform not
only our thoughts about water and its benefits, but how can it be upgraded into something a
little more luxurious.

First, I am grateful that I have access to clean drinking water and that I do not have to  walk
miles to get it. In fact, I even have a water filter attached to my refrigerator to ensure that I
have really clean and filtered water.  The act of being grateful for something means that you
recognize that it is not available to everyone which makes it rare and a little luxurious
already.

Secondly, just drinking water will help you in many ways.  Since our body is made up of
mostly water, it doesn’t function as well when we do not drink enough water.  In fact, most
Americans are dehydrated on any given day. This means that our brain, kidney’s etc. aren’t
functioning at their optimum levels, our hair, skin and nail health and beauty are
compromised, and our body’s ability to regulate our temperature diminishes.  So, by
switching your beverage to water is an easy and affordable way to improve your health and
beauty.

But what do you do if you don’t “like” the way water tastes and have never got into the habit
of drinking water on a regular basis.  Hmmm.

I remember going to our local library for an author lecture and they had a local Italian
restaurant donate appetizers and beverages for the event.   Everything was beautifully
displayed from the white table cloths to the presentation of the food. The restaurant clearly
was placing a lot of emphasis on the appetizers and thus most of their budget went to that
part of the donation.  However, when it came to the beverage, they got creative. There was
a beautiful, large, glass, beverage dispensers filled with ice, water, lemons, limes and
orange slices. This simple, elegant and delicious drink clearly was just as important as the
appetizers.  When I asked the waiter about the drink, they laughed a little and then shared
the secret. It is just tap water with sliced fruit. The fruit add a little something to the water in
appearance and flavor. The citrus brightened the flavor and made it very special.

A long time ago, my husband purchased a cheaper version of the glass beverage container
for me to have and put out at our parties.  I have kept the same fruit combination as above
and it is always a hit. It is simple, elegant and I am always amazed at the compliments I
receive regarding the water dispenser.  By the end of the evening, I usually have to refill it at
least once.

In everyday life, I fill my water bottle with ice, water and add a few lemon and lime slices.
My water is always refreshing and delicious throughout my day. Regardless of where I am, I
always feel a little special when I take a drink.

It is amazing how a pretty glass, with a little citrus can elevant water into a covided drink.
Just think about how you feel when you receive a glass of water at a fancy restaurant vs. a
pizza place.  Hmm.. Quite a different feeling. Why save it for only eating out, when you can
enjoy that same feeling every night?  So I encourage you to shop your house and find a
pretty glass and use some of our tricks to add luxury to your life.
